    Porsches to the Milky Way

25,000 light years to the centre of the universe
    Our longest run yet!

Guided by amateur astronomers provided by the Perth Observatory, a limited number of Porsche Club members are invited to observe and learn about our solar system and deep space around a campfire in the amazing red gibber plains of Paynes Find.

The guides are bringing their advanced computer controlled telescopes and knowledge of deep space.

Although the focus is stargazing, we are driving into the most spectacular wildflower country in the middle of the wildflower season and should get some amazing images of the flower colours and vastness of the Mesa Mountain top country.

You will be staying in the best accommodation money can buy in both locations, BUT that is modest!  Come prepared to share a bathroom and eat simple pub food.  5 Million Star accommodation may be available with showers should Paynes Find Hotel overflow with Porsche owners.

    Bring:

    • Your Porsche
    • Telescopes or Binoculars
    • Chairs to sit around campfire
    • Warm clothes for stargazing
    • A bottle of wine to share under the stars
    • Your spirit of adventure

Due to the large volume of interest in this event (over 100 members expressed interest), we will be running the event over the same weekend in 2 separate groups with the same itinerary.

Mission 1 will depart on Friday afternoon 8th October, and will return to Perth on Sunday 10th October.

Mission 2 will depart on Saturday afternoon 9th October, and will return to Perth on Monday 11th October.

Please make sure you are registering for the correct Mission. This form is for MISSION ONE.
Multiple registrations have been enabled for this event so if you need multiple rooms to accommodate your party the primary member can enter a second registration to secure an additional room if available.

    For each Mission, members will have several options to choose from;

Option 1 - Includes Meals and Stargazing.
This option is suitable for members wishing to book their own accommodation. Camp-sites are available for both tents and caravans for the full outback experience.

Option 2,3,4,5 - Full package including New Norcia accommodation, all meals, and Stargazing.
These options will also require choosing the level of accommodation at Paynes Find Roadhouse.

An accurate itinerary will be provided closer to the event date to registered members, but as a rough guideline, the weekend will look like this.

Friday 8th October - Member meet at New Norcia in the late afternoon, Pre-dinner Drinks and a 2 course Monastery dinner. Accommodation overnight in the New Norcia Hostel

Saturday 9th October - New Norcia Hostel continental breakfast and morning briefing. Depart New Norcia, travelling to Dalwallinu via country scenic roads. Morning tea provided by Dalwallinu's ‘The Old Convent’.
After morning tea we depart en-route to Paynes Find. Dinner supplied by Paynes Find, and Stargazing to follow provided by volunteers from the Perth Observatory. Saturday night accommodation at Paynes Find.

Sunday 10th October- leisurely morning start and return to Perth.

An event not to be missed!

This event is brought to you by Deryck Graham and Grace Tan.

    DRIVER DEVELOPMENT TRAINING DAY
    - MONDAY 1st NOVEMBER 2021 -

Following the great response from the Expression of Interest last month we are happy to confirm that we have now locked in a Driver Development Training event together with Arise Racing, to be held at Wanneroo Raceway on Monday 1st November 2021.

If you have ever wondered what it might be like to take your car onto the track, or for those track warriors who have longed to improve your corner lines and braking points, but never had a professional to tell you how, then this Driver Development Training day is just the event for you.  You don’t even need to bring a Porsche - any brand is very welcome.

    This event will consist of:

    • A morning session:
With participants arriving at 8am, to be on track between 9am – 12pm.

    • An afternoon session:
With participants arriving at 12pm, to be on track between 1pm – 4pm.

    • For the really keen, you can attend both the morning and afternoon sessions.

There will be shared wood fire pizza lunch between 12pm – 1pm for all attendees. Please advise in your entry if you have any dietary constraints.

The training will include private one-on-one in car coaching - there will be 6 coaches provided, offering expert advice on how to drive your car on the track in a safe environment.

You can bring your own helmet, but don’t worry if you don’t have one as Arise can provide helmets too.  Dress code is long sleeved cotton top and long cotton pants and enclosed shoes.  Arise will also provide full track support including pit-lane management and tyre pressure monitoring.

Please make sure your vehicle is in track-worthy condition, in particular the brakes pads and tyre tread, as your car will be getting a bit of a work-out.  Arise will perform a car safety check prior to allowing you out onto the track.

The costs for this event are as follows:

    • Morning session, including lunch - $350 per driver

    • Afternoon session, including lunch - $350 per driver

    • Both sessions, including lunch - $700 per driver

There will be a minimum of 12 drivers per session, with a maximum of 18 per session, so there will be plenty of track time and instruction time.  A wait list will be set up if we are over-subscribed.

    • Each registration form allows for 2 drivers/cars to register per session.

    • Multiple registrations for this event have been enabled which will allow the primary member to register themselves for the morning session and their partner for the afternoon or vice versa just by going back to the registration page and creating a second registration.

    • For the really keen you can register for both sessions by going back to the registration page and creating a second registration.

Closing date for registrations is Monday 25th October 2021.  As we are expecting strong demand for this event, please ensure you register early.

If you have any questions, then feel free to contact me via email or mobile.

    Best regards
