We are excited to welcome the extraordinary Margie Smith-Haas.
A prominent American sportscar driver and proud PCWA Club Member as our Guest speaker at our members night!
Not wanting to give too much away, Margie has left an undeniable mark on the world of motorsport. Her claim to fame? Being the first American woman to tackle the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans the pinnacle of endurance racing in a Group B 930 Turbo Porsche.
Margie Smith-Haas's illustrious career in motorsport extends far beyond her ground breaking achievement at Le Mans. Active in the field from 1978 to 1995, Margie made a significant mark in the Sports 2000 class, showcasing her prowess in a 2000cc one-make Sports 2000 car.
Her crowning moment came in 1994 when she not only led the pack for most of the season but also clinched the title. This triumph marked a historic milestone as Margie became the first female driver to win a professional road racing championship in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
But Margie's passion extends beyond the racetrack. As the founder of "Toys for Adults," she has translated her love for sports cars into a unique venture. Her company creates remarkable replicas of sports cars in the form of stuffed toys, bringing joy to enthusiasts worldwide.
