You will only need:

  • Standard Australian road drivers license and minimum CAMS Level 1 licence (purchase on the day).
  • AS approved helmet which can be purchased (or borrowed) from any motorbike or speed shop. A limited number of club helmets will be available on the day, please email our sporting director - (sportingevents@porscheclubwa.org.au) should you require one
  • Long sleeved shirt and pants (cotton)
  • Closed shoes (no thongs or open shoes)
  • Your Porsche must be in roadworthy condition and comply with Schedule B of the current CAMS Manual of Motor Sport

The specific requirements for vehicles and drivers are defined by CAMS and are available at http://www.cams.com.au/motor-sport/regulations/cams-manual/general-requirements . It is important that each driver understands these requirements.  The key points to be aware of for the PCWA Sporting Series as per the CAMS Schedules are:

1.   Licence requirements: Level 2 Speed Cams licence.

2.   ASA Approved helmet that meets the Australian Standard AS1698    (other acceptable overseas standards are SFI24.1, SA2000, E22 & BS6658-85) these are available at motorbike or speed shops.

3.   Clothing needs to be wrist to neck to ankle, flammable synthetic material is not acceptable.  Cotton is recommended.

4.   Fire extinguisher fitted to your vehicle, NO new holes need to be drilled in your car, existing seat bolts are utilised and the frame & bottle can be easily removed when not needed.  Extinguisher needs to meet Australian Standard AS1841 and be 900g minimum capacity.  It needs to be firmly secured and must be not more than 3 years old. You can get a fire extinguisher at K-Tec in Sarich Court Osborne Park, Rennsport in Nth Fremantle, RJP Motorsport in Welshpool, Racing Dynamics in Malaga and they will help fit it too!

5.   Visible tow points/hook(s) front and rear, where they are not visible they need to be marked with the word “Tow”.  Stickers are available from race shops such as Go Gear for this.  Porsche tool kits have a tow hook which is acceptable

6.   Display a blue triangle (sides 150mm) indicating the location of the battery. Stickers are available from race shops such as Go Gear for this, alternatively electrical tape can be used to mark out a triangle.

7.   Glass headlights need to have an adhesive cover or tape fitted to prevent the spillage of glass onto the track.

The 2016 season demonstrated that we have some truly great drivers in the club.  The 2016 season also reinforced that the sporting series is far more enjoyable when the events are hotly contested.  With that in mind we are kicking off the year with a chance for all to practice their driving technique with the view of continuing to develop the pool of great drivers.  We also encourage all drivers to share their tips and hints with the upcoming jets in the club.

This event will fill up quick so if you have paid your 2017 PCWA membership please register asap!

*IMPORTANT REGISTRATION NOTE: If sharing a car both drivers have to register separately.

If you have any questions or feedback please email David Blainey (sports director) sportingevents@porscheclubwa.org.au
