You may have visited the incredible bakery in Perth, now it’s time to explore the quaint little Benedictine town where it all started.
New Norcia. Australia’s only monastic town which not only is home to one of the best bakeries in the State, is also a fascinating slice of Spanish history, Mediterranean architecture and Aboriginal culture, intersecting right in the heart of the Australian bush. A truly unique spot under the sun in Western Australia’s wheat belt region.
Our PCWA member Ian Rowson has organised a fantastic drive route, which will take us right to the heart of this historic town 132km from Perth. We can soak up the serenity of the place while sharing a delicious 3-course roast lunch together at the New Norcia Hotel.
After lunch, there will be time for those who wish to visit the museum / art gallery and monastery or simply stroll through the beautiful town site. Ian will also make recommendations on various choice routes for your return drive back to Perth.
