Scrutiny of Vehicles

All vehicles entered for PCWA CAMS permitted events including Sprints and Hillclimbs are subject to scrutiny and all competitors must present their vehicles prior to competing in the event.  At scrutiny your helmet must be presented for inspection and approval. Apparel must comply with Schedule D of the CAMS Manual. Your CAMS Licence, and vehicle log book (if applicable) and State Drivers Licence must be produced at scrutiny and on request during the meeting.

Scrutiny Process – Perth Competitors

No car may participate in the event unless it has passed scrutiny. Cars must be scrutineered at the scheduled session 5-6:30 PM  on Monday, 20 June 2016 or by separate arrangement.  Email David Blainey to make appointment for scrutineering outside of this time – david@wheelsworld.com.au

Country and Unregistered (trailered) Vehicles Scrutiny Arrangements

Drivers/competitors who live outside the Perth metro area may contact David Blainey to arrange for scrutiny at the track on Wednesday, 22 June 2016.  Cars that have pre-booked for scutineering at the track must be ready and presented for scrutiny at 0830hrs.  Any car presented for scrutiny after that time risks not completing scrutineering before the commencement of the event.

Note:  If any vehicle is presented for scrutiny on Wednesday, 22 June without having pre-booked a $50.00 late fee will apply (payable on the spot) for special scrutiny.

Extra Info for new members

The specific requirements for vehicles and drivers are defined by CAMS and are available at http://www.cams.com.au/motor-sport/regulations/cams-manual/general-requirements . It is important that each driver understands these requirements.  The key points to be aware of for the PCWA Sporting Series as per the CAMS Schedules are:

1.   Licence requirements: Level 2 Speed Cams licence: click here to see the application form.

2.   ASA Approved helmet that meets the Australian Standard AS1698    (other acceptable overseas standards are SFI24.1, SA2000, E22 & BS6658-85) these are available at motorbike or speed shops.

3.   Clothing needs to be wrist to neck to ankle, flammable synthetic material is not acceptable.  Cotton is recommended.

4.   Fire extinguisher fitted to your vehicle, NO new holes need to be drilled in your car, existing seat bolts are utilised and the frame & bottle can be easily removed when not needed.  Extinguisher needs to meet Australian Standard AS1841 and be 900g minimum capacity.  It needs to be firmly secured and must be not more than 3 years old.

5.   Visible tow points/hook(s) front and rear, where they are not visible they need to be marked with the word “Tow”.  Stickers are available from race shops such as Go Gear for this.  Porsche tool kits have a tow hook which is acceptable

6.   Display a blue triangle (sides 150mm) indicating the location of the battery. Stickers are available from race shops such as Go Gear for this, alternatively electrical tape can be used to mark out a triangle.

7.   Glass headlights need to have an adhesive cover or tape fitted to prevent the spillage of glass onto the track.
